The campaign for Jackson County Commissioner is down to the last weeks and days and Jim has spent all summer knocking on doors and talking with voters. By the time ballots are received in mid-October, Jim will have personally knocked on almost 10,000 doors in Jackson County.
What Jim is finding is a plea from the public for change in county government. Change that will correct the mistakes of the past and get the county to establish a vision and start planning for the future.
While voters tell Jim they are furious at his November opponent, Commissioner Dennis “CW” Smith, giving himself a 26% pay increase at taxpayer expense, voters are also upset at a county out of touch with the needs of the people and the communities. They are tired of the “good ol’ boy” network running the county into the ground and they want things to change.
Jim Olney has the right kind of experience and education to bring the kind of responsible leadership needed in our growing communities. Our nation needs change at the national and local level. When you vote for a new President in November, remember it is just as important to vote for a new County Commissioner and Jim Olney is your best choice.
My name is Jim Olney and I am seeking the Democratic nomination for Jackson County Commissioner. I decided to seek office because I believe I can make a positive contribution to the lives of fellow county residents based on over thirty years of experience in leadership and management positions with business, community, and government organizations.
My goal is to make the County Commission accountable to taxpayers by opening up our government processes, making them easily understandable, and by working to enact policies that will produce tangible results at minimal cost to you. Learn More>>

It is someone who meets with and talks with citizens countywide about what needs to be changed and improved. A Citizen Commissioner is someone who makes time available for the citizens to speak with the County Commission and hear their concerns. A Citizen Commissioner is the foundation of our working democracy in Jackson County and we need to rebuild that foundation.
Except at election time, when was the last time your County Commissioner asked for your opinion?
